When issuing
bills in
ContactsLaw, you may include a request for payment of
anticipated disbursements. These are
disbursements that will occur on the file at some point in the future, but have not yet been incurred.
Anticipated disbursements do not have an effect on the
debtors ledger and they do not increase the total of a bill. Instead, they appear rolled into the 'Please pay' figure. If/when the
client pays for anticipated disbursements, the additional funds will be recorded as an unallocated credit to debtors.
When the disbursements are actually incurred, they are recorded in the normal fashion and a new bill is posted. Due to the credit balance, the amount payable for this disbursements-only bill will be zero.
Anticipated vs quoted disbursements
Anticipated disbursements differ from quoted disbursements included on an upfront bill in that they are not mandatory. Quoted disbursements must be paid in order for the debtors balance to return to zero.
