In ContactsLaw, a document workflow can be restricted so that it can only be started if certain pre-requisites are met. These can be used to prevent users from performing a particular action on a document if information is missing or the document is not in the correct state.
You can test the following criteria:
- Users can start this workflow - Use to completely disable a particular workflow that is no longer in use.
- Dates that must be set - Require certain date fields on the document to be populated. The presence of a date value may indicate that a particular action has been performed, therefore you can use this mechanism to require those actions to have been completed.
- Contacts that must be present - Require contacts in certain roles to have been added to the document.
- Attributes that must be set - Require certain document attributes to be set/clear. For example, you may wish to prevent users from starting the workflow if the document is uncatalogued, or require it to be final.
